Same issue here. I upload animated GIFs and they show just the first frame.
  • No complaints coming from me... ;-)

Do you really need animated GIFs as your profile pic? They can sometimes be irritating for other users, and I almost hope this is a fix from last.fm to prevent them playing.

Animated GIFs are allowed so your reflexion is useless and there is truly an issue about that, mine used to work and I uploaded a new one with rights dimensions and it shows only the first frame.

    I like them so....
    An, yes, they are allowed...
  • Mine only shows the first frame as of yesterday (18th). If I upload a gif with transparency you can see the other frames through it, all static.

I want my carefree head-bobbing action back :(
  • I've noticed with certain animated avatars you can see them play fine when they're reduced in size, i.e. on a shoutbox, but when you go to that person's page to see it full size it's stuck on the first frame. Don't know if that's any different to what those above are experiencing!
  • yup, I wanted to upload an animated gif too, but it doesn't move whatsoever..

This only happens when you upload a new one...
  • As i mentioned to darkhelboy earlier today, currently it is not possible to upload avatar gifs.
We hope it is going to be resolved soon.
    Thank you.

If you dislike animated GIFs, disable them in your browser (or hit Esc). Your personal preferences should not be forced on everyone else.

Oh, I do hit escape whenever I see them. And that wasn't forcing my personal preference, that's why I said "no complaints".

If I cared that much, there'd be a new forum post about it by now...
  • So why not just disable them in your browser? I know both IE and Firefox offer that option; not sure about others.
  • also had trouble uploading a static gif image to an artist page through Music Manager yesterday. just wouldn't load up despite repeated attempts, refreshes etc. maybe all artwork for artists have to be jpg? i know i have used gifs in other places at Last.fm before though, probably more in forums. i do this to minimise the file size for users who don't have massive capability on their machines in this regard.
  • And is there any information when it's going to be fixed?
I really would like to have my old gif back (yes, I experimented exactly on that day when this "error" occured. Sigh. Call me lucky dog ;P ).

Thanks for the info in advance =)
  • I should get fixed at some point, although as far as I know not yet in the next couple of days - sorry for this.
  • sadface
Jesus does not like static GIFs.

I was wondering why mine didn't work, because it was the right size and all and i was finally able to make one of myself on my own so i was looking forward to uploading it today. Glad i'm not the only one that has the same problem though.
