Oops! Error connecting

  • Oops! Error connecting

The flash player is horrible, much worst then the last one (in every way, including design, functions and stability). I can't get it to play a preview to any song as much as I try, because it only gives me the "Oops! Error connecting" message and does nothing. I used several browsers including IE and Firefox... useless. Why is it so hard to listen to some previews...?

Edit: actually it seems to work with some (few) artists but it doesn't want to work on most songs preview...
  • Yes, I'm getting that right now, this minute... what is the problem??

It was working yesterday and the day before, and now it doesn't want to show the song being played.... (as of 26/08/08, 09:00pm)

Refreshing the page doesn't make any difference. Support Team, sort this out.

    Ta!
  • Oops! Error connecting

I am getting the same error today. It will let me play from my library, but not other tracks. It was OK yesterday.

    Oops! Error connecting

I have also tried everything I can find out there on the web and the Last.FM forum that has sprung up for this problem. Still no joy.

What a pity it is taking so long for a fix to be provided. I'd really like to listen to other user's playlists, and my own, but it seems that there is no interest in trying to sort it out. Strange as everything else seems to work fine. Strange that there is so little communication from the supplier, it's not even listed under 'known problems'.

It looks like the player is not connecting for any album or track pages. Artist pages are ok.
Dead Kid Harvester, the sound of kitchen utensils, erratic discord, insanity.
Latest song: PlayMy Brain Surgeon Has Parkinson's Disease.
  • same here. i cannot play single tracks :[

edit: artists' pages will not work either. i can only play my recommendations, loved tracks, etc.
  • Nothing playing, no update. It must be the middle of the night in foggy London town. Wake up, oh last.fm friends! We have a problem!
  • Same Here

I wanted to hear an album. It lets me play the first song only.
  • same same

I can't play tracks when I am logged in as myself, but when I log out and click play library, it works! What...?
  • I just noticed this problem as well, also if you go on the single track page, the proper artwork dosen't seem to come up
  • i have the same problem too. and i didnt have any problems listening to my recommendations on the old last.fm. now i cant listen to any of them. refreshing rarely helps. and if it does, only for a while. then i get the message "oops!error connecting" again. i wrote a mail to the support team and i got a response with lots of questions like what kind of browser are u using? what kind of flash player are you using etc. but i use the same browser and flash player as i used to. so i sent them as much information as i could but i didnt get any response. and what is last fm good for when i cant listen to music here now?

I am also getting the error with single tracks (and just noticed the missing artwork too)

I guess we'll just have to wait until the problem can be fixed.

    Hi there,

Could you all please provide examples of this if you're still experiencing the problem?

    Thanks,

    Chris
  • I can hear the songs again now, so it's just the image that's a problem for example on that's not my name by the tings tings, this image comes up

  • seems to be working now. Thanks last.fm!
  • I'm still having this problem. I was able to play tracks from several bands earlier, but I can't play any Ben Folds Five now, no matter what I try. The songs buffer for several seconds and then I get the "Oops! Error connecting" message. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.16.

I'm having this same issue and have been for several days. Nothing will play on the website and it just gives the error message. I've tried it in both Internet Explorer and Mozilla, neither have worked for me.
  • oops! error connecting

I can't play my own tracks on this site; what is the point? I'm going elsewhere.

I just got it too. I've noticed it on and off for a while but not reported it till now. Sometimes a simple page refresh does the trick, but this time, it didn't.

I was listening to Eine Kleine Nacht Musik, I clicked on the main Player, top right. The first track played fine, then it stopped working.

    FF3/XP.
  • this happened to me too, yesterday - on various artist pages, the first 5 tracks i played worked fine (as shown on my recent tracks):

    (You Belong to The) Blood
    Thanksgiving 7 Sep 8:52pm
    Your Rocky Spine
Great Lake Swimmers 7 Sep 8:48pm
    Ghosts
    Laura Marling 7 Sep 8:45pm
    Cross Your Fingers
    Laura Marling 7 Sep 8:41pm
I Am a Full Grown Man (I Will Lay in the Grass All Day)
    Phosphorescent 7 Sep 8:30pm

but any tracks i tried to listen to after that on the flash player (including some artists listed above, so it can't be a problem with the individual artist pages) didn't work and i just got the 'error connecting' message... refreshing didn't help.

also, i don't know if there is another thread about this, but although tracks i've played since 3rd sept show up in the 'tracks' page (the separate page you get to by clicking the 'recently listened tracks' link on my profile), they don't show up on the 'recently listened tracks' on the profile itself. the tracks have been added to my library so they've obviously been scrobbled, but i was just wondering if there was a reason for the discrepancy? EDIT: in relation to this, tracks i've played this morning have scrobbled on my profile, but the older listens still haven't been added.
