Yes, right now, that's how it seems. On the beta however, when you look in your Sent folder, you see everything you've sent, and you can't delete anything either.

Don't know if this is a bug though, since it's all on the same page and stuff too.

In any case though, I don't see any reason for not having the option to delete messages. I want it.

They are NOT purged over time

If you keep the URL of the sent message, and you enter it in your browser later, even after the message no longer appears in the list, it will still be displayed in this manner -- as long as you are logged in to that same account at the time you try to see the old message.

I just sent Last.fm a complaint on this issue

The text I sent is available at
    http://www.lastfm.com.br/user/jsilv/journal/2008/07/04/21yrlp_privacy_concerns_about_last.fm
Express your concerns, too! If many users complain, they'll feel forced to add a feature to purge (really purge: erradicate!!) the sent messages.

i stand corrected, as two of the mods have kindly pointed out. and i do agree with your point: we should be allowed to delete our sent items.

  • I agree with it as well (as I've already said). I think your message sounded a bit serious, but whatever. :D They definitely shouldn't need that serious reasons for giving you this option. It's simply an option you assume will exist. I don't know though, maybe they have some reasons for not doing this, maybe it's not possible, whatever... but a reply would be nice, as always.

Waht do you mean, "delete"? Delete the actual message from out of the recipient's inbox, or just delete the reference to the message in your sent box? The former seems like a bad idea (what if the recipient wanted to keep the message?), and I don't see the point of the latter.

hmm... never thought of that. from a privacy concern pov (per jsilv's post above) deleting one without deleting the other is kinda pointless really.

Whilst I'd support having the option to do this, I'm struggling to see the privacy concerns of having something in your outbox. Other people can't see your outbox.

If somebody hacks your account, you probably have bigger things to worry about.

Hey, we just pushed out an update that lets you delete sent messages. We also fixed the pagination links on the sent messages tab.
