The following steps should fix it:

    • Quit the client
    • Click "Run..." in the start menu.
    • Type %PROGRAMFILES%\Last.fm\Cleaner and press enter
    • Change your password at the site

      ---------------

Now you can restart the client and enter your new password.

On Vista type that the command into the "Start Search" r instead (the bottom bit of new vista start menu).

Sorry about this, questions welcome below.

Now, I cannot login. says something is wrong with my connection.
  • i uninstalled it and reinstalled, and now on the log in screen it wont let me log in. it says the proxy server is blocking it, i dont use any proxy server.

    READ MY BLOG OR ELSE!
  • Did not work for me

I got the screen where it says I have to input information abouta proxy connection
  • Cannot log into the client with the new password either.

I have the same problem since last night. I have changed the password in the client, but no luck. I have noticed though that the client did not save the new password details. I tried to delete my self as a user (to add me afterwards) but that doesnt work either and I got a message like: "there has to be at least one user in the system".

    Please someone Help out :(
  • Having a similar problem, altough I was using Foobar 0.9.4.5..

Audioscrobbler HTTP: DNS error : could not resolve "post.audioscrobbler.com"
Audioscrobbler: Cannot connect to server. Retrying in 60 seconds.

and so on.. so I isntalled the last.fm player and same problem, couldnt connect to servers. ive restarted/reinstalled etc etc.. Nothing seams to work and I scrobbled fine just one day ago :/

Is this a "selective Break Down"???? LOL

Sorry people, I take that back. Web Site player DOESNT WORK EITHER ("Oops! we had a problem connecting")

    Hello all,

Thanks to prom we traced this down to the wrong password hash being sent from the client - please go to the options dialog in the client and RE-ENTER your username and password, then save.

If that works, post here saying so.

    That sure worked for me!
    Thank you all...
Hope most of you may now enjoy listening music with lastfm!

well, it doesnt work for me and for many other people obviously, as we have tried that and also mentioned it above ;)
  • it seems i'm having a problem as well, i'm getting the following error message in my last.fm client

"Cannot contact Last.fm server. Is your internet configured correctly?"

    I haven't changed anything?

But after reading this thread I've tried what other people have suggested.

I've changed my password (on the website), logged out and signed in using my new password. I exited out of the client and reopened it and re-entered my username and password and i'm still getting the same message.

I even reinstalled the client and tried changing my password yet again and did everything I did before and it still gives me the same error message as above.

I was listening to music before I left to work this afternoon and those tracks scrobbled, before I left the only thing I did was turn off the computer and haven't changed any settings.

There may well be some server issues at the moment.

I can only say: SAME FOR ME!

Does anyone remember the site for uploading the cache manually?
It was something like lastfm.dave or so...
  • I tried to uninstall the client (1.3.2), changed password on the site and then installed the new Beta and still have connection problem.. now i cannot even open the client because it gets the error when checking username/pass. says it wants a proxy, but i dont have any proxy. (did this on 1 of my computers, on the second one i still get the regular "cannot connect to Last.fm server" problem). This error is really annoying as i can see my neighbors are scrobbling without problems... (WinXP/Winamp5.5)
    I`m bleeding! I die!!
  • Mine isn't working either. I did everything people in this thread said and nothing. Same error continues to pop up "Couldn't connect to the Internet to verify your user details..."

It has worked fine 1,5 years, but now it isn't doing anything. I'm quite pissed. :(

  • I have the same problem as well. I re-installed LastFM and now when I tried to install it, it said in the setup wizard 'couldn't connect to the internet to verify your user details'. I'm not using proxy and I have tried everything that has been suggested here and nothing works. I'm using Windows XP if that helps.
