LastFM starts when I start WinAmp - How to prevent this ?

  • LastFM starts when I start WinAmp - How to prevent this ?

Currently whenever I start WinAmp (e.g. by clicking on an MP3 or a video file) it also starts LastFM player which is a nuisance as I then get both the MP3 I wanted and my LastFM station playing at the same time.

How do I stop LAstFM starting when I start WinAmp?? I presume it is a PlugIn but when I look at the plugins list in WinAmp (in the Options) I can't see anything there to do with LastFM.

Any ideas anybody (you can mail me off board at steve.mcwilliam@btinternet.com if that helps.

    Cheers and thanks

  • Leave the client to ask for your password. When you cancel that, the client will shutdown.
Or turn off the option (in the client) to start the last radio-station. That way only the MP3 plays, and the radio will wait until you tell it to start.
Remember to say "thank you" for the things you haven't had

Is there *no* way to completely disble the auto-launch of the last.fm client when starting media players? I don't want to be asked for passwords nor have to cancel out of anything. I want last.fm to open ONLY when I manually start it.

There must be some registry setting somewhere that causes last.fm to be launched. But where?

Why not making the client to autostart and minimize itself at Windows startup, that way when You open Winamp to play Your MP3, the client won't launch, because it's already active on the taskbar :D

If you turn off the last.fm plug-ins in your media player then the client won't auto-start.

Of course, you'll then have to remember to turn them back on when you want to scrobble, but I believe that's the only way to stop it auto-starting - it's not the opening of the media player which causes the client to run, but the activation of the last.fm plug-in automatically runs the client.
