    Client FAQ (updated 21Jan 07)

I downloaded the client, but whenever I click on a radio link on last.fm, it tells me to download the client again! What's wrong?
When the Last.fm client successfully starts up, it phones home to our servers, and tells the web site that it should stop displaying those "download the client" notices. Since you're still seeing them, it means that you haven't successfully started the client up. Check that your username and password are entered correctly.

What ports does the client use?
The client needs to connect outwards on port 80, both to ws.audioscrobbler.com and to a dynamically-chosen streamserver. It does not need receive external connections on any port, and so should not require any special configuration on most firewalls.

Does the client support Mac OS 10.3 or below?
Not at the moment. We are working on it, but 10.3 users consist of only 0.1% of our userbase, and Apple doesn't make it easy for us, so it's fairly low priority.
If someone sends us a spare mac to run 10.3 development on, we will be able to do this quicker. ;)

I can't install the client on my work PC - how do I open these dastardly lastfm:// links?
Check out this thread for information on how to enable this in Firefox. Alternatively, you can simply drag and drop the lastfm:// URLs from your browser onto the client window.

The Winamp plugin doesn't work properly with FLAC files.
There are some problems with the official FLAC Winamp input plugin with regards to reading metadata. Make sure you're using the media library-enabled version of the FLAC plugin available here.

The Last.fm client doesn't work on my Amiga/SlimServer/Cray XT3 - How can I listen to the music?
If the Last.fm client isn't available for your platform, you can try using LastFMProxy, which is written in Python and proxies the stream into your favourite media player. Please note that this is not officially supported by Last.fm.

I want to help with client development, where can I find the code?
The latest code is always available on our public Subversion repository at:
    svn://svn.audioscrobbler.net/client/tags

I'm trying to compile the client, and it can't find...
Make sure you're running qmake in the root of the source directory, not in /src.
