haha yeah similar artists are completely unrelated musically other than a poppy vibe. anyone know if they little dancey slidey guitar stuff in the opening track is purely digital or an instrument of some kind? it sounds so awesome.

I made a group for them because I thought it was a atrocity that one did not exist. They're just too plain awesome for such treatment. Group is here.

yeah I think the 'similar artists' up there are basically bands who released albums around the same time as Evening Descends... oh yeah, and it's still one of my faves of the year!

I have really grown to love Evening Descends this past week and would agree it's one of the best of the year.

I can definitely hear some FLips in there. Very unlike the Ruby Suns though.

optimistic_tour wrote:
completely unlike the Ruby Suns. I'd compare them to early-mid period Flaming Lips if anything.

DotsDisconnect wrote:
how ruby suns-ish are they?

optimistic_tour wrote:
hey, Evangelicals fans probably have some good taste, so why don't you stop by Everything's Exploding and perhaps join? It's on that little list to the right, with astronauts!

It's sorta funny, I'm not a huge fan of any of the similar artists except MAYBE Beach House, but these guys are still blowing my fricking mind. So Gone is quite possibly the best album I've heard in the past 5 years and Evening Descends is my top contender for best of '08. So so amazing, more people need to listen to them.
