Yeasayer (pronounced “yay-sayer”) takes place in the future, somewhere in the Middle East where citizens wear turquoise robes, live in crystal towers, and overindulge on Peter Gabriel albums. The band members are Anand Wilder, Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, and Luke Fasano. They describe their music as “Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel”. The band first came to national attention after appearing at the SXSW festival in early 2007.

Yeasayer’s debut album All Hour Cymbals was released 23 October 2007 on the We Are Free label.

All Hour Cymbals is a very good album, but I think that the production holds the band back a bit. Their live sound has a bursting quality to it that could have been replicated a little better on disc
